ASIANIA  (ASIANIA Parachute Federation) is a voluntary, non-profit sporting organisation that was established in 1994 at a special meeting at Chengdu, China, during the World Style and Accuracy Championships by a group of experienced parachutists and leaders eager to pursue the development and establishment of greater quality championships and competitions in the ASIANIA (Asian and Australasian) areas.

Countries that participated in this important meeting were Australia, China, China Taipei, India, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea,  and Thailand.

Member countries have increased over the years to include Australia, Brunei, Bahrain, China, China Taipei, Hong Kong China, Egypt, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Korea, DPR Korea, Lebanon,  Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, New Zealand, Oman, Palestine, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Syria, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Yemen.

ASIANIA became  an FAI International Affilate Member in 2005 and remains an FAI Recognised Organisation providing continued support and encouragement, promoting  countries to become members of the FAI.


ASIANIA Parachuting & Skydiving Championships are generally conducted each year with events including  Accuracy, Freefall Style, Formation Skydiving and Canopy Formations.  Other events may be added at the request of host organisers. The 1st ASIANIA Parachuting and Skydiving Championships were conducted at Anyang, China in 1995.

The 1st ASIANIA Indoor Skydiving Championships were conducted at Chongqing, China in 2018, with events for 4-way Formation Skydiving, 2-way Formation Skydiving, 2-way Dynamic Skydiving and Solo Freestyle.

There are two sections to all ASIANIA Championships – ASIANIA Championships and the International OPEN which aims to encourage participation from teams all over the world. Tropies and medals are awarded for each section.

Another annual event is the ASIANIA EMAX Video Competition which is a competition to encourage jumpers of all levels experience to participate in competition. Teams can practice each jump as many times as they wish, but can only submit one official video entry. Judges are also encouraged to submit the assessments of the official jumps by their team, which are critiqued by official FAI Judges as another learning tool.  This Video Competition has a free entry fee to Asiania members and is conducted at each team’s selected Drop Zone, using their preferred aircraft. Judging is usually carried out by selected FAI Judges during the ASIANIA Parachuting Championships or online.


ASIANIA also conducts approved FAI IPC Judge Training Courses and/or ASIANIA National Judge Training Courses, mainly in conjunction with the annual ASIANIA Championships.  These courses have greatly benefitted and increased the numbers and quality of judges within the ASIANIA countries.


The ASIANIA Annual General Meeting is generally conducted in conjunction with the ASIANIA Parachuting Championships. Office Bearers are elected every three years. The elected office bearers for 2018-20 consist of President Wang Yongli (China), 1st Vice President Sanjay Thapar (India), Vice President Mohd Al Saabt (Bahrain), Vice President Irvan Zuladry (Indonesia), Vice President Sang Bong Kim (Korea) and  Vice President Abdul Al Moaaen Hassan Ahmad (Egypt). Secretary General Faye Cox (Australia), Deputy Secretary General Chang Il Choi (Korea), Chair of Judges Committee Yaser Mohsen (Bahrain), Chair of Competition Committee Chang Il Choi (Korea), Chair of Safety Effendi Soen (Indonesia).
